Started making a GIGANTIC protein/almond milk/peanut butter/banana shake for breakfast using the last of pretty much every ingredient.. used a disposable plastic spoon to put the peanut butter in and accidentally dropped it into the running blender where it turned into a thousand shards.

lolololol

it was beautiful outside this afternoon so I had lunch outside in a little park on the waterfront with a great view of Manhattan.

but I left my phone in the office so I couldn't take a picture to make my boyfriend jealous (he works in a bland office park in the middle of nowhere)

Asked for a refill at Wendy's and the girl ignores all the fiz forming on the top before handing it back to me, not giving the fiz time to die down so she couldn't fill the cup to the very top with actual soda. She bolted right back to the line of customers and started taking their orders. Now I'm faced with either waiting a few minutes for the customers to die down to get it filled right, or settle for only 2/3 of a refill of soda. :\

Fuck my life.

can't easily get to the office snacks and coffee due to the crowd watching the bigass tv they wheeled into the kitchen to stream the world cup games.

hot dog eating contest:

sportsbooks has the favorite to win as joey chestnut at -$1200?!
(I bet $1200 to win $100)

of course I put down $9600. EASY $.

now the over/under is 62 hot dogs in 5min.
this is much tougher but I put my remaining $400 on over.

oh.. and most of the contestants throw up all those hot dogs after the competition is over

In other news, the USA's entire F-35 Joint Strike Fighter fleet (spent $1.5T over 10yrs) has been grounded.

I tried to get my work phone upgraded yesterday. I stopped by the Sprint(ugh) store on the way to a job, but there was an issue. The bill needed to be paid, and the phone would cost more than I expected. I wasn't sure I wanted to spend $200 on a phone I wasn't completely on board with, and I didn't have the money on me anyway to pay the overdue balance.

After thinking it over, I went again after work with $600 in my pocket, and attempted to get the phone again. New problem; the account owner's contact info is obsolete, so I couldn't get the fuckin' phone. No, they can't call the owner's cell. No, I can't get the owner to call them...

I wish the Neo900 would hurry up and get released. I could get the exact phone I want, and get my own service that doesn't suck :^/

Yup, and he's always busy. I suppose it could be done online, but then it's a matter of getting the account straight; and waiting... I wouldn't usually care so much, but there's been a couple times recently I could have really used a smartphone.

I was hoping to do some hacking over the long weekend, but that's not to be. I don't want much out of life, so it's extra frustrating when sand gets thrown into the gears :^D

Edit:
On a lulzy note, a month or so ago I needed to get the password changed for the voice messages on the phone, but of course that needed authorization. I guessed the answer to the security question on the first try, and was able to get it fixed at the store :^D Another reason this pisses me off. I have all the information needed, but they police their user's passwords. The guy claimed he could get fired if the contract extension wasn't really authorized. Just shows their employee relations are as shitty as their cell service. If the person standing in front front of them supplies the correct key, common sense would absolve the store employee of any blame. I guess common sense has no place in corporate and litigious America :^S

Douchebags lighting fireworks off in the street last night.
(It wasn't even the 4th yet..)

Gave me a scare as I was walking back from Safeway.

My first world triumph this week was getting Xubuntu on my work machine. I have some small issues with the primary program I use, and a couple minor programs are untested(may have to dual boot), but it's all working well enough, and the issues I'm having may be able to be circumvented, or offset by the robust scripting potential of GNU/Linux \o/

Just yesterday? They usually start here a few weeks before the 4th. Or Memorial Day. Or any other time the local fireworks vendors decide to put them on sale.

so joey won. yeah.. +$800
but he only ate 61 dogs. lost the over/under.. -400

so only +$400 for risking $10,000

I have been lighting fireworks since 6pm, it's getting tiring. The kids want to keep going though :)
