I heard a rumour that Subway at Home Depot is going to close down soon. Nooooo! That was like my favourite thing, go there to pickup supplies for a project, get a sub, get home, eat, then start on the project.

Interestingly though I saw the owner at the grocery store near my house and he was just talking to people about possibly opening one in my area and just gauging interest, but there's a Tim Hortons and they actually can outlaw the construction of a Subway and other franchises in a certain radius around their own store, so he can't build it where he wanted to and was looking to build a bit further from it to not fall in the exclusion zone. The owner is actually a pretty nice guy. Indian, and he practically knows me by name (which is kind of a bad sign it means I eat too much fast food lol) and he even randomly paid me a free cookie once. Just out of the blue. I thought that was cool. He actually thought I worked at Home Depot lol.

Wait, Tim Hortons can control who builds what where?

Apparently. I thought that was crazy too. I don't know if that's common with all franchises or if it's just them. Basically you're not allowed to build certain types of businesses within a certain radius of a Tim Horton's. I can't find any info online though. Maybe this is specific to my city, like some kind of bylaw, not sure.

Waiting and waiting for dick on ebay to send me the SSD I bought and took forever so I told him to refund me and I just went to Newegg and bought a new SSD instead for the same price with the same capacity of 120 GB. It's for my new Dell Latitude laptop which already arrived before the SSD and I bought both at the same time. Pisses me off. The Dell Latitude E6410 I'm using now is a POS. The mouse is erratic which I hear is a common issue and it's hot as fuck.

Being they moved into second place behind McDonalds, I'm guessing flavor is NOT the determining factor in success.
Marketing is obviously the winner here.

Price and availability help too.

That said, there's nothing really wrong with a McDonald's hamburger. A little salty for me, but most food is. It's a standard-issue white bread bun ($3 for a 48-pack at Walmart), a used-to-be-plenty-big single-serving meat patty (when did portions get so crazy?) that's cooked a little more than it ought to be (food safety > flavor) and the same standard condiments that you get at any July 4th picnic.

IMO the reason nobody admits to liking them is because McD's is uncool, the paper-bag presentation is decidedly uninteresting, and the restaurants are completely lacking in ambiance - if your favorite Uncle was serving up the same thing in the backyard, most people would be all over that shit.

I never had an issue with the taste of Subway. Better than anything I'd be able to make not to mention it would not be worth buying all the stuff and then end up having to eat subs for a week straight or more. But it's not exactly healthy because of all the non-food chemicals they put in the bread and fact that the meat is not really real and has lot of filler agents in it etc. It's marketed as a health alternative fast food but it's far from that. They are probably doing bad because the target audience is starting to realize that it's not really healthy. If you're going to eat fast food then may as well just get a burger and fries. :p

I had to take a picture for a new passport. I like to pretend that I'm actually going to travel someplace outside of my zip code. I didn't like the photo. It looks like the crazy mug shot of someone just arrested for eating someone's face - you know, w/o their consent. I'm probably guaranteed to get very thorough cavity searches from the TSA now. "Why do I have to bend over?" "Because you look like someone who would stuff a gun, a pound of C4 and a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook up your a**." "OK, you got me on the cookbook but that's all, I swear."

Coworker's phone keeps ringing. If he didn't answer the first dozen times you called, chances are most excellent he ain't answering this time, since he ain't here. I wonder if there is some technology the caller could use to leave a message?

They never really figured out how to make a sandwich that tastes good.
There's also been a surge of competitors bringing higher quality food for about the same price. Ten years ago the only places were Subway and maybe a stray Quiznos here or there. Now there are sub places everywhere.

Speaking of food, over cooked our steaks by just a bit. Like them more rare, but they were thick and hard to judge. :/

I miss Quiznos. We had it here but it did not last, was in a weird location. We do have a Mr. Sub which is better than Subway but it's kind of out of the way so I don't go as often.

ordered from McD app.
went to store.
while in parking lot, wanted to confirm im here so they can start making my order.
stupid app kept saying store is closed even tho I see people inside.

had to go inside and have cashier do it.
but I was behind an indecisive family with a large order.
had to wait a couple of min b4 they got to me.

then had to wait 5 more min b4 they made my order because they had to make the familys order 1st.
if the stupid app worked right, I would have saved ~7min because my order would have went thru ahead of them while I was in the parking lot!

grrrr...

Went to the local ski mountain this evening. It was packed. They had a dumb "Sam Adams Air and Apres" show, which caused them to shut down the lift servicing the good blue trails about two hours after I got there, so I decided to just go home.

I hate being behind indecisive people anywhere. If you don't know what you want, step back and let people by who do. If you won't order for your kids, make sure you know what they want before you start ordering.

- Now I can't make my ATH salary while working from home as much.
- I wanna stay up when I have free time although I need sleep.
- I wish fast food was closer to me.

I hate that crap too. Just as bad as people at grocery stores with tons of coupons, and that argue over expired ones and hold up the line so they can save 5 cents on toilet paper.

Waiting and waiting for my Newegg SSD purchase so I can get my other laptop going.

Queznos was the bomb! I loved that place. We had one as well, but it went under just like Schlotzsky's.

I thought maybe my hatred for Battlefield 3 would have passed after all these years, so I reinstalled it. Instantly hated it again. What a fall from Battlefield 2.
