I wanted some lightweight paracord, so I got on amazon, and figured I'd get those hot noodles I forgot to get last time. Order total $24.97. 3¢ short of free shipping... I got some heavy weight paracord to get my total up, but I don't really need that :^/

You should have looked on ebay. I find ebay to have cheaper prices and often times with free shipping.

I never really think of ebay. After they got hacked, all my verification stuff was obsolete, so I couldn't easily get my account unlocked, and I gave up on it. Ebay always had more potential to be a pita. They've kinda changed since then, so I should probably start considering them more.

I'm trying to estimate the cost for window shutters. If there is one thing about living in America that pisses me off is the cult of secrecy surrounding pricing for any type of home improvement. "We couldn't possibly give a ballpark figure, every job is a special snowflake with unique requirements" from firms that slap these things up day in and day out. Internet searches give about the same result. "We can't possibly discuss price until we've wasted your time." I guess they figure you'll be more willing to buy if you consider the sunk cost of the time invested and don't want to have to start over with another installer doing the same crap.

Car dealers like to get in on that game when they can. For example I'm interested in getting a Type R Civic. It lists for $35k which is about 50% more than even the Si but these greedy bastards are still trying to get over list. They won't even give me a quote via email. However I did finally get one dealer to tell me that the last Type R they had sold for $40k. The only way they'll even talk to you is if you go in person. They want to size you up and see if you're really as stupid as they think you are. F*** that. The car isn't going to be hot forever. I can wait.

Stag arrived broken in the mail. Antlers snapped off. A free replacement is forthcoming.

My favorite camera review site is descending into click bait territory. Half the stories are now single paragraphs regurgitating manufacturers' press releases.

A documentary on Netflix made me sad.

Yeah, the Real Story Of Alice in Wonderland will do that to you.

My laptop came today I bought on ebay. Was here a few days earlier then I expected. However, I bought it seeing the BIOS image showing a dedicated GPU. Instead it's Intel. Kinda pisses me off, but oh well. It's a nice laptop and I'll keep it. Now awaiting for the procrastinating asshole to send me my SSD so I can remove the god awful platter.

I heard a rumour that Subway at Home Depot is going to close down soon. Nooooo! That was like my favourite thing, go there to pickup supplies for a project, get a sub, get home, eat, then start on the project.

Interestingly though I saw the owner at the grocery store near my house and he was just talking to people about possibly opening one in my area and just gauging interest, but there's a Tim Hortons and they actually can outlaw the construction of a Subway and other franchises in a certain radius around their own store, so he can't build it where he wanted to and was looking to build a bit further from it to not fall in the exclusion zone. The owner is actually a pretty nice guy. Indian, and he practically knows me by name (which is kind of a bad sign it means I eat too much fast food lol) and he even randomly paid me a free cookie once. Just out of the blue. I thought that was cool. He actually thought I worked at Home Depot lol.
