So he was gonna steal the ballast? :^D
It's not a bad idea if you can find a way to sell it back to the railroad. Ballast is a tightly spec-ed specialized product and railroads are willing to ship in the good stuff from sources thousands of miles away.

We just took shipment of 6000 tons of ballast material, and it has old rr spikes and tie plates mixed in. Where did this come from???

That's called "tramp steel". If there nothing else in the world that miners agree on, they all agree they hate tramp steel. It does amazing things to rock crushers. :D

I have to program in MATLAB and it's just slightly different enough from C to be annoying as hell. It always takes me a while to get back into the MATLAB flow.

We got about 7-8 inches of snow and the snow plow bukaked all over my car on the street. Had to dig it out for 30 minutes.

So I just got a generic bot response from my inquiry and they closed the case. Went absolutely nowhere. But it just occurred to me that I probably have to change the card number in my bank when I make my payment... but nobody ever told me that. I changed it but have to wait 2 days before I can use that payment method. I'm going to make a payment of a dollar just to see if it goes to the right card.

I have a feeling I lost over a grand in payments because they were all going to the old card which does not exist anymore and every time I logged in and saw a balance I would just make another payment, not realizing that the last one never went through. I sent some small transactions just to verify my hunch. If that's the case I'm going to be opening another case with them.

I would be so damn pissed it wouldn't be funny. You need to make sure all of your payments are now applied to your new card, if not fuck that company! Cancel that card!

Yeah I have a feeling I'm going to have to backtrack all my statements and try to do all the math manually to see if all my payments went through properly. The fact that transactions are always delayed makes it hard to keep track because by the time a transaction actually shows up I don't even remember what it was for. When I pay off the balance, I don't know if there may be transactions that just did not show up yet. I never actually see a balance of zero, because everything is weirdly delayed. I need to completely stop using the card for like a month so I can get the balance to zero and then start from a fresh slate. I should probably start tracking my expenses separately just so I can make sure things jive.

Was at the store today, and wanted something light to eat. Checked out the sushi. Didn't look like Wegmans. Noticed they had 'vegetarian' sushi. Pick it up to look at it, but I'm not really enthused. Checkout the fish, and figure the vegetarian is the safest bet, so I get that. It was about as good as you imagine it was. A dollop of fake wasabi on the side, some loose ginger, and a pack of Chinese made soy sauce. After using the wasabi on two of the pieces, I dig out a packet of Kikkomen I had in the truck. I don't usually use soy sauce, so I have them laying around. It gave the sushi a bit of flavor. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, but even at $6, it was overpriced. Looking forward to my breakfast sushi at wegmans tomorrow.

Disaster struck! They didn't have sushi ready at wegmans. A bunch of anglos working the sushi station, so they were probably too slow. I had to make due with dumplings and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. It wasn't the same :^(

I replaced the radon fan in my attic yesterday, and it seems slightly louder than my old one. When I'm in my upstairs bathroom and everything is quiet, I can hear a slightly higher-pitched humming, compared to the lower humming of the old fan.

I've been mulling over removing all the insulation from my attic and going crazy with air sealing (not sure if the contractor through my electric company's energy program did this properly) the top plate and ceiling/floor penetrations, spray foam the floor, and cover it with plywood. Would be nice to be able to walk without having to trapse through the loose insulation on the rare occasions I venture up there. It would be even cooler to be able to insulate the entire attic so I could use it for storage or possibly finish it at some point, but that's probably out of my skillset/financial means at the moment.

You have a radon fan in the attic? It belongs in the basement.

I don't even have any kind of radon mitigation nor have I heard anyone here that does, but I always hear stuff on construction shows and such about how dangerous it is. I guess it's very region based, maybe we just don't have it here.

The risk is based on the type of bedrock the building is on. Granite and black shale are the worst.

The piping extends through the wall all the way down to the basement and under the slab. The fan is supposed to be in the attic, outside of any living space, otherwise if there's a leak around the fan connection, you'd be pumping a crapton of radon into your basement

I guess I've only seen them exhausted above grade.

Still haven't been laid in over 2 and half years and women's collective sexual oppression is still showing me no hope.

My desire to be with someone who is mutually attracted and doesn't go about whoring for money is still depressing me greatly.

These women simply will not help me and my completely ignored desire for sex and intimacy is the greatest pain I've ever felt in my life.
