Forecast says it'll go back to freezing temperatures early next week. What the fuq? It's April, blow me, winter.
It's snowing. We may get 20cm by tomorrow.

That was a real fad for a while, wasn't it? Pretty much all the major chains around here had at least one store open all night. Now I don't think anyone does.I have the munchies and have nothing in the house of that nature, but everything is closed. We used to have a 24/7 grocery store but they close at 11 now. :/

I tend to be a night person so being able to do my shopping at 3AM was kind of cool. I guess there weren't enough people who wanted it. Either that or it was too much of a distraction for the night crew packing out.
Now I think there is one 24 pharmacy w/in a 5 mile radius and a couple of all-night convenience stores. Other than that, you're talking diner or Dunkin Donuts.
I don't believe that you live up there and don't have a gun... Go shoot some dinner.
I was wondering about that. I'm even in the US, and there's a 24/7 Tim Hortons only a few miles away.Hmmm, Tim Hortons is open though. That, and a poutine place, is like the only thing left that's 24/7. Screw it, box of Timbits it is! May as well get a coffee too.
Not even sure why I have the munchies this bad, I just ate not that long ago.

I guess so.I think it's just driven by the local population. The nearest Walmart, Meijer and a couple fast food places are open 24 hours. When I lived 30 minutes east of there I think only Walmart was open 24 hours. If they aren't getting the late night business to be worth staying open, they'll change their ours over time.
Not me personally, but when I went to the dentist this morning, there was a guy in the waiting room who was having his daughter read him the medical history form and fill it out for him.
Based on the prompts I overheard, I gather he was illiterate.![]()
That's a much bigger problem than most people realize because of the stigma and embarrassment people feel over this. As a result, they do their best to hide the fact. Not me personally, but when I went to the dentist this morning, there was a guy in the waiting room who was having his daughter read him the medical history form and fill it out for him.

The 24/7 fad was because someone convinced companies that a closed store was 12 hours of potentially lost business and wasted resources..which is true to a degree, until you figure in pay and everything else associated with it, and how you barely ever make that amount of money.
I don't know if someone told me this or I just assumed it. I think an asst manager or someone like that told me but I can't be sure. The 24/7 fad was because someone convinced companies that a closed store was 12 hours of potentially lost business and wasted resources..which is true to a degree, until you figure in pay and everything else associated with it, and how you barely ever make that amount of money.
