Went to McD's for their two for $2 deal hoping to score a McDouble and Cheese sticks that I had yet to try. But they had just removed the latter, forcing me to make do with including a small fry with my McDouble. :(

If I'm allowed to have a second First World Problem, it would be that I'm putting food in my mouth served by McD's.

I honestly still get a craving for Big Macs or 1/4 Pounders with Cheese about every 6 months, might have been longer than now. I'm guilty of still liking McD's now and then.

I ate probably way too many in the 70's, I think you could get a Big Mac, a small fries and Coke for $1 or so, we had a group I hung out walked to McD's and walked just up the alley to the Music store we took lessons at and ate in the basement where the private lessons were. Was like a club. I had that almost every day for lunch in high school, for awhile.

I think the wife said were 2/$5 atm ...

All Pick 2s are $5 plus sale tax for a while around here.

It is finally no longer rain but it is very warm/almost hot here. Yesterday it was upper 80s/low 90s when I walked out to the parking lot. The sun was so bright and so high from the daylight saving time. Time to clean up and put all the winter coats/items into storage.

I wouldn't do 2 big macs for $5 because it's smarter just to buy one for $4 with a Burger King buy one get one coupon for the Big King. (or a Qtr Pounder with a buy one get one whopper coupon) McD honor's competitors coupons which can save a buck or two.

Don't you just hate that? You'll get one batch that is super crunchy but still melts in your mouth. Then you'll get another batch that has the consistency of macaroons. Still tasty but not what you were expecting. I stopped ordering them. I might buy them in a store if I can see the expiration date but not otherwise.

I bought them in a store. I always do. But it happens some times, alas. I do like them like macaroons. I do not want juicy wet sloppy amaretto cookies. I would return them to the store immediately.

My neighbor just turned his sprinkler system on yesterday. That means I now need to do the same and need to start mowing or pay my kids to do it (its one way they earn money around the house). Also means less water pressure in the morning while I shower.

I went to a 24hr McD's for a $1 large drink last night at around 9:45PM. It was fully staffed and lit with cars in the parking lot but as soon as I pulled up to the speaker someone apologized while informing me that they were closed. The only sign was on the speaker, meaning you will have pulled out of traffic and lined up before you realize it. Can't they turn the sign and menu lights off when they are closed?! They should do that every night at typical places that close but especially at a location you expect to be 24hrs.

They no longer have 2 for $2 here :(

You sure? It's a promo called "McPick 2 for $2."

They also have a "McPick 2 for $3" deal here but they only have something like four items in that tier. Three of them (medium coffee, medium drink, iced tea) are actually HORRIBLE deals because this particular region has a permanent "$1 any-size beverage" thing going on (since ~2011). If I can get a large for $1 then paying $0.50 more for a smaller drink makes ZERO sense. I think there was only one other option (I think it was a McMuffin) so you'd pretty much have to order two of whatever it was for the "McPick 2 for $3" deal to make any sense.

Yeah. Our "McPick 2 for $5" menu includes the better sandwiches like Big Mac and Filet-o-Fish but they are still relatively expensive.

it was a promo called McPick 2 for $2 which is being replaced by McPick 2 for $5, with the "better" sandwiches.

Had to settle for a FoF + 10piece nuggets for $5, which is not really a good value considering FoF's used to be $1 and 2x5 piece nuggets used to be $2.

My first world problem is I make a shitload of money yet here I am, debating the difference between spending $2 vs $1 at McD.

The sun finally came out for the first time in a while yesterday, but I'd left my sunglasses at home so I had to squint.

You guys realize you can pick 2 of the same thing for those McD's deals? 2 McMuffins for 3.00 is a decent deal.

Right, but that's the ONLY deal for the regions with the $1 any-size drinks. The 2 for $3 McMuffin deal comes along pretty frequently, so this is a stupid substitute for this region.

They don't replace each other. For example, the one closest to me is currently doing 2 for $2, 2 for $3, and 2 for $5 McPick promos, each with a different set of selections.

In SoCal they sure as fuck did, and according to the internet your McD's went off the rails. You definitely can't find ANYTHING about a McPick 2 for 2 on the McD website.

The fast-food chain has not yet made an announcement about the decision, but signage and advertising promoting a 2 for $5 menu have begun to appear in its place, and its website notes that the 2 for $2 promotion has ended. According to Consumerist, billboards and other such announcements have appeared in cities like Kansas City and Des Moines promoting the new 2 for $5 menu, which includes premium sandwiches like the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, and chicken nuggets, unlike the 2 for $2 menu, which featured items like mozzarella sticks, small fries, and low-priced sandwiches like the McDouble.

The way it's written makes it very clear that they are presuming that based on seeing exactly what you saw. They didn't announce that they were getting rid of it everywhere because... *drumroll* ...they clearly weren't!

In reality, I am sure that certain franchisees decided to end it because it was not as profitable in their market due to many factors. One didn't replace the other: It simply coincided.

Also, the 2 for $3 and 2 for $5 McPick deals showed up simultaneously. They definitely are not one-at-a-time promos.

maybe in your city/state, definitely not in mine. I know because I go to McD a shameful number of times in any given month.

And the fact that the 2 for 2 (or 2 for 3) is not on the McDonalds site makes it pretty clear that your franchisee is off the rails (don't get me wrong, I want your franchisee by my house cuz 2 for 2 is way better than 2 for 5).

not trying to be argumentative, just trying to increase post count. thx ;)

Right. I wasn't saying "you sure?" because I thought you were wrong. I was saying it because I know that it isn't gone everywhere and that the new options did not actually replace the old one. I wanted to know for myself if some places really did get rid of it, so I asked if you were sure.

I did, however, find this on the McD site:

The McPick 2 for $2 Menu will be available from Jan. 4 through Feb. 8 and includes the choice of the McDouble, McChicken, Small Fry or new Mozzarella Sticks. For example, customers can choose a McDouble with a small fry for $2 or a McChicken with an order of Mozzarella Sticks, also for $2.

It sounds like they left it up to the individual franchises to continue the offer depending on how viable/profitable it is in their particular markets. It's kinda like how only a few Taco Bell locations in the nation continued selling the Chili Cheese Burrito about 15 years ago. About 6 years ago there was a big deal when it came out that most Burger King locations did not advertise their $1 double cheeseburger that the corporate commercials were advertising and some were turning away customers who asked anyway (they weren't profitable). About 14 or 15 years ago Wendy's would advertise the $0.99 Quarter Pound Double Stack on the radio but none of the Wendy's locations around would honor it (I think it was $1.29).

^^

On a related note, not all McD even serve the same apple pies - a few serve the baked, most now serve the fried.

I unintentionally derailed a topic at a message board I post at into having lengthy McDonald's discussion. :(
