It isn't irrational to follow up. Just be polite and ask if he did, in fact, receive the resume. If he is offended you are diligent when it comes to important things, you likely don't want to work there.

My 4 year old laptop's battery only has 15 minutes or so of life at full charge -- it had about 2 hours when new... I don't know if I should replace it with a new one for $130 or just get a new laptop. Also concerned about battery wear on brand new batteries because they've probably been sitting on the shelf for a while. The machine's otherwise perfect, looks new... Just heavy and big, not so portable.

My five-year-old HDTV is failing so I had to take advantage of Cyber Monday pricing to buy a much, much larger replacement with inferior image quality. Unfortunately, it was out of stock, so even though the price is locked in, I won't see it for several weeks. Meanwhile the wife and I need to buy new furniture to house it and figure out how to get rid of the old failing set with an unknown timetable of when we can expect the replacement. Currently vacationing in Phnom Penh, staying in a guesthouse ($15/night), and the place gets flooded due to a nearby dam breakage. Since I'm on the lower floor I was over ankle deep in water full of garbage & sewer. Half my clothes were still in luggage and soaked.
