Why do cellphone cases have smooth sides instead of diamond pattern to aid grip? The whole point of the phone case is to prevent damage. So wouldn't increased grip be better?

If I had to guess, it's so it slides into a pocket better, but I may be giving the makers too much credit for forethought. It's just as likely they're stupid.

Otter Box cases are grippy but expensive.

I have this case for my Google Pixel 3a, which I bought for $8 almost 4 years ago. It's smooth enough to easily slide in/out of my pocket, but has enough grip that it doesn't slide around on solid surfaces.

I guess it doesn't help you, but whatever. This is a first-world problem thread. :p

I have a cheap case for my Stylus, and it's the worst of both worlds. It has grippy corners so it's harder to pocket, and smooth sides so it's slippery :^D It works well enough for me. I use a belt case at work, and just drop it into a cargo pocket off duty.

I get wallet cases for mine. Cover folds over to protect the screen, plus other pockets and things. A little bulky for a pocket, but they fit and they don't slide around.

my problem with wallet cases is that they are cheaply made, so the core is cardboard. Should be a sheet of plastic but it's always cardboard.

Mine have held up well for a couple of years. A little wear and tear around the edges and corners, but not much. For $10, I can replace it.

Bought a thing from the 'Zon early Tuesday morning. Said it would arrive Friday (tomorrow). It's now Thursday afternoon and it hasn't shipped yet. Still says 'Arriving Tomorrow.'

All day today the screen showed 'Arriving today by 10PM'. Just after 6PM, I finally got the Shipped noticed. Now it says 'Arriving Wednesday'.
Package received.

You bought the wrong case... Mine is textured for better grip.

I liked those wallet cases when phones were smaller but now that everyday phones are so big I prefer a minimal case that doesn't add any bulk.

I pay for Spotify family premium, and I have the "autoplay" feature turned off so I don't get their annoying song recommendations. A couple of days ago, I noticed that when I play my favorites list, Spotify was sneaking in songs that I know I've never favorited. After 2 days of wanting to smash things, I finally figured it out... on *each* *individual* *playlist*, the shuffle button now has *3* possible settings: OFF, SHUFFLE, and PLAY CRAP THAT I HATE.

I'm sort of amazed at how much this raised my blood pressure. Maybe it's time for some decaf and a vacay.

NuclearNed stories are the best.

I had to change my dinner plan as I don't have mushrooms. Looks like chicken teriyaki rice bowls tonight.

Or carry your own music...paying for Spotify is no different than listen to radio, except you have to pay extra for the service and for the data.

I have over 150gb of music on my phone. Mostly flac

I just checked, and my main computer directory is 292.5gb. I have a bunch more specialty music spread here and there, so that number is at least another 50% higher. Mixed format, no lossless. I probably have about 150gb on my phone. Android sucks with big directories, so they're spread through several, and I don't feel like checking them all.

I used to spend allot of time listening to music - I just didn't like spending money to buy it. I bought enough stuff for the gym and for walking. I've never listened to music hiking or cycling. I've listened to NPR when I've had long commutes. Now I waste stupid amounts of time watching Youtube vids.
