TVs are cheap enough now days I wouldn't even bother moving it if it's a wall mount, it would just come with the house. Excuse to buy a newer TV when that time comes. Who knows what newer tech could be available by then anyway.

I don't plan to upgrade this TV for a long time. Even if I did end up wanting to 5 years down the road, by then it'll be close to worthless. My 55" cost $1500 when I bought it. And I'm guessing I could get maybe $100 for it today and that's probably pushing it.

Yeah that's what I'm saying so if by chance you ever move, just leave it at that point. Unless you actually plan to move soon then I'd just wait to buy a new TV. Otherwise get the big one and don't worry about having to move it again once it's in there.

The definition of insanity ....

"An 85 inch TV measures 74.1″ in width by 41.7″ in height."

A six foot by four foot television.

Was curious what price point 8k TVs in that size range are. Yikes! lol

Some of those cost as much as a small house.

65" range is actually not bad though.

There would be no reason to go 8k unless you're using it for computer stuff though. It's something I sometimes toy with if ever I were to completely overhaul my home office. I'm pretty happy with my current setup of 2x 4k though.

Depending on your room size that's gonna be the mid range size a tv should be if you care about a good immersive movie experience. This is why a lot of people have projectors with 120" screens. The average person could give 2 shits about anything here so they're fine with a 43" TV that's probably halfway across the house from where they sit. But if you're into movies you gotta go big. Watching movies on my 55" is pretty pitiful even with my audio setup that can knock shit off the walls. It just never feels like I'm in a movie theater. If I could afford a proper setup here I'd get a projector with an 85" screen that rolls up when not in use. I don't see how movie people can enjoy watching an epic movie on some dinky sized TV.

At some point I do want to do a proper home theatre setup. I find it's hard to do in a regular living room, as there's usually too many things in the way such as windows, doorways etc but a dedicated room can be setup from ground up for the purpose. No windows, only one entrance in the back, and everything else is bare walls. At that point I'd probably get a nice projector and try to do it kind of imax style where the screen is pretty much the entire front wall. Have wall mounted speakers, sound absorbing material etc. If I really want to get fancy I'd even have a dedicated bathroom accessible from the back with a small TV in there that also plays whatever is playing on big screen. Need a popcorn machine and really expensive chocolate bars for the true experience.

Bought an XFX 7900XT for $800 a week and a half ago. Went on sale today for $719 and has an additional $15off coupon at Newegg and Amazon.
I was prepared for this to happen around Black Friday and was good with that. FML.

We're a telecom company you'd think our network could be more stable. :p
Mine is a financial company and we are always begging our partners for funds to process our customer transactions. You would think the idiot owners would set aside a few million expressly for this purpose so we don't keep running into the same issue almost every single day.

I had to write a business letter today to a person with a gender-ambiguous name. We realized that, even though we have worked with the recipient for several years, no one in the office had ever seen or spoken to the person and we had no idea of the correct salutation to use. Eventually I found a newspaper article mentioning the recipient and went with the gender mentioned in the article.

Bought a thing from the 'Zon early Tuesday morning. Said it would arrive Friday (tomorrow). It's now Thursday afternoon and it hasn't shipped yet. Still says 'Arriving Tomorrow.'

Eh, Amazon these days - nutty algorithms.
They don't keep track of order fulfillment. They somehow lost a $52 supplement in transit. I waited a month, thinking someone would check on pending orders and see that mine hasn't been delivered yet. Finally gave up and had to waste 10 minutes chatting to a human to get my refund.

All day today the screen showed 'Arriving today by 10PM'. Just after 6PM, I finally got the Shipped noticed. Now it says 'Arriving Wednesday'.

I don't check the status. Order it and if it doesn't arrive in 10 days, I will get curious and check what's up. Got too much else on my mind to constantly have one more thought nagging me.

I am guilty of hitting refresh on the tracking when I can't wait to get something. But there are other times where I actually forget I ordered something, and it's like Christmas when it shows up.

Contributed to an indiegogo campaign before the pandemic and then it got delayed coz well, the pandemic.

It's on its way to me as I write this, three years after I paid for it. I just hope the customs officials don't put a hold on it to investigate why the invoice has a date three years into the past.

I got an old man mountain elkhorn rack which is supposed to be mountable to any bike, but even though I have a fork with all the accoutrements for mounting things, my pitlok security skewers mess the mounting up. have to find a new solution.
