Wanted to try the new Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich and fries from Wendy's last night. So I hopped on Door Dash only to find out you gotta be a subscriber to their premium service to order it for some reason,

I guess the $8 in fees they already charge you aren't enough.

Wait so you could order from Wendys on Door Dash off of their regular menu, but to order the special sandwich you needed to be a subscriber? So a shitty fast food special is behind a paywall for delivery now?

The lawn didn't really need to be mowed but I was eager to do it anyway and my new Greenworks 80v lawnmower just quit on me. Won't start at all. I mowed like 90% of the yard then stopped it just to go to another area and it won't start anymore. Letting the battery warm up inside to see if it's just a thermal issue, but it seems weird to me that it would have such a high cut off. It's not below zero out and I've used the snowblower in the cold fine even with a battery that's been sitting out for a bit.

If there is an issue with the mower I'm hoping it's just the safety switch. If yes I'll just bypass it. Or replace it with a toggle switch. That might be smarter. :p Hoping it's not a main controller issue, this thing is brand new, if it blows the main controller within a year that's not too promising...

My gas mower has never given me any problems.

I got it working just now, there is something funky with the safety switch, if I hold it while engaging the mower it works, but normally you just need to tap it. It's like part of the mechanism inside is fubared. At least I know it's just that. If it fails further I'll just bypass it.

In theory, electric stuff SHOULD be more reliable than gas but if they put cheap plastic parts in it that doesn't really help. :p

Yes, I looked at the entire menu and this was the only thing I couldn't order, and it was the only thing I wanted. Just my luck lol.

Travel service set up our driver to fly to Easter Island for 4 hours before the flight, they told us we need 3.5 hours to get through security and immigration control. We made them change it to 3.5 hours before but it still only took us 15 minutes to get through everything and now we get to sit around for hours.

Maybe Nintendo is paying them to do that. Bored travellers will see some other people playing on their Switch consoles in the waiting lounge and they will buy their own too.

Weirdly I haven't seen any switches while we've been on this trip, I usually see quite a few. I already have one though but I never travel with it because it's too much of a hassle to carry it around when I'd only use it a little bit on the trip and I've got a bunch of other luggage to mess with (hiking gear, camera etc.).

I got Chinese takeout last night and they didn't give me a fortune cookie. :(

At least at the few Chinese spots I go to, you gotta ask now or you don't get them. Also one of them has a $1.50 surcharge to use a damn card. That's definitely a #1stworldproblem,

Started a tile job and the end cuts are literally like 1/2" of tile I have to cut so my snap cutter won't work for that because there's not enough tile to push into to snap and it just breaks the whole tile. Going to try to find someone who has a wet saw to finish the job. I could just rent one but by the time I pay for that I may as well just hire it out. The guy that is installing the chimney offered to do it originally but he just never gets back to me so figured I would do at least the tiles then it's 100% ready for the actual stove. I want to get this job done and over with so I can move on to other things it's been dragging all winter lol.

Actually wet tile saws are not as expensive as I thought... might just end up renting or buying one. I figured they were thousands but can get one for a few hundred. If renting is under $100 it might actually be worthwhile since that's probably at least what someone would charge anyway. I'll have to go check Home Depot on monday and see what they have for rental.

Realised I subscribe to far too many podcasts. Every time I fire up the music/podcast manager, it downloads so much stuff I run out of disk space. And I'm never likely to get round to listening to them all. But have trouble purging my subscription list as each one I think "oh, but that topic does seem interesting, I'm sure I'll get round to listening to it at some point".

My home internet is down so decided to go to Home Depot as I needed to anyway, and traffic was completely insane. Took me about an hour when it normally takes 20 min. Got back and my internet is still down so I'm on mobile. In the 3rd world the traffic would be even worse and I wouldn't even have internet at all. :p

The city is the fourth-largest city in the Northeastern Ontario region with a population of 41,145

There is a total of 17,890 households in Timmins,

What, did they all decide to go to Tim Hortons at the same time on the only paved road?

I actually suspect the internet being out might actually have to do with it. Anyone who was online probably decided like me, to all go do their errands at once. It was pretty much gridlock all the way to Home Depot. The mall, Wallmart, Canadian Tire and several other big box stores are all in that end of town.

Some asshat decided whenever Timmins internet goes down, every citizen has to go to the internet office and have their palm print read. Something about MFA. It was dubbed The Great Reset.

I was all pumped up to the task of setting the new gold standard for slumlords. The property in blue came on the market:
1684886403841.png
The condo association for the buildings in the middle dissolved and no one paid the taxes on the parking lot and common area. A third party bought the parcel at tax auction and is selling it for $40k. The implication of the realty ad is that one could extort recover one's investment and make a tidy profit through charging the residents for parking. A review of county records shows that the residents have perpetual easements for the use of the lot. :(

BTW: the county assessor values the property at $500 and the back taxes that led to the tax auction were under $50 total accumulated over four years.

Wait, so like the parking area and yards is for sale but not the buildings in the middle? That's hilarious. I would have figured that the entire block would be considered one property.

I was sitting at my computer chair, with mouse in right hand, on my leg, and holding a 1lt bottle of Polar Seltzer in the left hand, with the cap off, also in my hand. Then I fell asleep, the polar seltzer dropped out of my hand like a bomb, OH SHIT. My new 7600 Ryzen PC is at my feet, in front of my feet, RGB still A-going. Thankfully, it appears, that the seltzer was only half-full, and landed pointing to the right. There's some spray to my right, and a puddle at my feet. Hope there's no exposed AC wiring at my feet anywhere.
