I would stay away from the newer FWD and AWD Volvos. They aren't as reliable as the old RWD models and will cost a lot of money to fix and maintain - not good for a young person's first car.

My first car was a '93 Geo Storm. It's the sportscar version of the Geo Metro if that seems even possible. I threw a nice stereo, speakers, amp and a sub that took up the whole hatchback area. That car kicked ass. I had to turn off the A/C any time I needed to accelerate but it got great gas mileage...

ive own many tbirds and they are VERY nice cars...pretty safe too...i would go for a newer 4.6 v8 for reliability reasons...the 4.6 ford is a strong, well built motor and will last a long time if well maintained...you should expect about 24mpg in a well maintain 4.6 v8 tbird...i wouldnt reccomend the v6 version...it has a little pep...but i'm not a fan of that engine...
carollas are very good cars too...
nissan makes some good cars (240sx, maxima, sentra) that are very reasonably priced...

just do some searching...find out what features you want...and wait to find your best bang ffor buck...

i personally reccomend a retired corwn vic police itnerceptor...but thtas just me

Haha, 240sx's are not reasonably priced any more. All the ricer doriftiro crowd have bought them all up and when they try to sell them they ask rediculous prices. I miss mine that got stolen several years ago.
