What firewire cards work with After Effects?

I have a cheapo Pyro card and the files that it captures don't seem to work in After Effects, everytime I open them I crash the program... Other files captured by my friends camera seem to work fine. What can I do to convert the footage I have, or do I need a better Firewire card? Thanks
