In the past 6 months, I switched to gentoo on most of my systems at home from windows. However, I am still using smb for filesharing. Now I am wondering what filesharing system I should use.

I'm looking at:

Keeping samba
nfs
openafs
coda
lufs/ftp
lufs/ssh
autofs
intermezzo
open-afs

AFS is interesting, but I don't know how much security it provides. If you still have Windows machines, SAMBA might just be easier for those systems. NFS can be a pain to setup, but works pretty well for my systems. And of course, scp/sftp is pretty easy.

I use SCP. I find it easy, reliable, and secure enough for home use. Of course, the same could be said for Samba.
