So I got an old Sega Genesis off ebay 2 weeks ago...picked it up for $6 cause it didnt include any controller, and was "missing" tv hookups but he sent some cables that might work (which did)....but it did come with a few games. So I'm pretty happy BUT there is one little thing...he charged me $12 for shipping...and then sends me the system in a beat up old box with ONE of those little inflated pillows for no appaernt reason except to cushion the blows possibly? no other packing material apart from that...and then on top of all that he was across country and shipped Media Mail which is why it took till today to get to me...total shipping charge was $4.07...so i say maybe a $1 was spent on packing materials and thats being very generous i think...and then another $1 for paypal fees...so I'm out $4 I think...maybe I'm just being a stickler but...what do u guys think?

Did the auction specify fixed shipping cost? Then positive - even if the actual shipping cost wasn't listed, it's your responsibility to find out how much prior to bidding.
If the auction said you pay ACTUAL shipping, then you'd be justified in leaving him neutral or questioning him on it.
But is it worth a retaliatory negative? You still got a good deal....

Neutral and specify poor shipping job. Shipping without proper packing material should not be acceptable and too many people let it slide.

If it works, and you got it without a major dent in the system, I'd give him a positive...but you may want to mention the packaging in an email to the seller.

I would give a positive, but mention poor shipping in the feedback so people know, and he may clean up his act...

I'd email him and tell him that I left positive feedback due to the amazing deal, but that he really should take more care when it comes to shipping.

He delivered everything as promised and stated the packaging prices beforehand. Nothing wrong with that, and unless he specified what type of shipping he would use, he lived up to his word.

Assuming everything works, you have nothing to worry about. You knew the prices and you got it in working condition. Give him a positive and email him to recommend better packaging for his products in the future.

i got a neutral feedback once because the buyer did not receive his item on memorial day, (duh!)
he received it the day after that.

gosh what a way to scar my ebay feedback rating.

nevertheless, the neutral feedback does not affect your positive feedback rating percentage.
it gives 0 points to the seller or buyer.

Positive...there is no reason to give him negative or neutral feedback. He could have delivered it through DonkeyMail and you should still leave him positive feedback as long as he followed the arrangement.
