i was thinking panaflo or top motor, but what speed? high, med, low?

I'm using the Zalman 92mm fan in Silent mode (7V I believe), and my temps never go above 45 °C load. Depending on what CPU you have, you might as well get one of the quieter fans.

thanks. i found jabtech to be the cheapest seller of the xp90 so i'm getting the fan they recommended, it was 30dB which should be fine. how quite is the zalman?

Do you want it to be quiet or do you want it too cool well? Get a 120mm fan and have both.

xp 90 won't hold a 120mm, and i didn't feel like tossing more dough for the xp120. plus my other case fans will probably be more noticable.

This looks like a good medium-power 92mm fan. Not inaudible by any means, but if the ratings are right then it moves a good amount of air.

All have a tach/sensor feed wire. The linked fan is 40cfm. The next one up in this series is 92x38 and produces 57cfm and for the OCing insane the high speed job produces 79cfm.

The linked site has Akasa fans. The 92x25 puts out 30cfm@18dBA. Not enough air for an Intel chip but might do for an AMD.

SVC.com has a Japanaflo 92x25M-BX(BX=tach wire)for $4, 48cfm@30dBA. It's a good'en.

For my ears the three bladed Deltas don't have the high pitched rip 7 bladed fans do.
I like the DTB fans.

Oh really, do you want to see a 120mm fan on my xp90 being held on with stock clips? If you don't know the facts keep quiet. If you want it cool and quiet get a 120mm fan, even a cheap 50-60cfm fan will cool great, plus it cools most of the mobo at the same time.

Easy guy......Just post the pic you have, not everyone has seen it.

If I wanted a 120mm fan over my CPU, a SI-120 would have been bought instead of
a XP-90C. ;)

The XP-90 does NOT support a 120mm fan. Only by doing some slight modifications will it work. However, when you do those, vibrations will be much higher because you are not mounting the fan on the rubber strips, nor are you securing it in the ridge on the sides of the HS.

To clarify my earlier statement, slight modifications do not include using the stock clips. Unless you drill new holes, it is not possible to use the stock clips.

Finally, why did you feel the need to insult the guy? A 120mm fan is not officially support, and he made a statement why he wouldn't if he did. It would seem that he knows the facts, and didn't need to be told that snide little comment.

There are no modifications needed, none. You clip on the 80mm fan brackets into the very top holes on the heatsink, you place the 120mm fan on top and then you secure the clips. You must use a 120mmx25mm fan. Unless you actually tried it and can prove it doesn't work why are you even replying? I felt I needed to say that cause even though I said Ihe can use it he still felt that he KNEW it can't be done even without trying it.

Here's the pic, you can see theclips, the fins and the heatpipes, it's a xp90.

You stated that noise is not that much of a concern, so save yourself a few bucks and go with the fan included retail version of the XP-90. Link
The Thermalright fan specs are close to the Panaflo that Jab-Tech recommends for the XP-90.

Thermalright Fan
Size: 92 x 92 x 25 (mm)
Bearing: Two ball
Voltage: 12V
Speed: 2400 rpm
Air Flow: 44.79 CFM
Noise Level: 35.0 dBA

Maker: Panaflo (Panasonic)
Model: FBL09A12M
Size: 92 x 92 x 25 (mm)
Bearing: Hydro Wave
Voltage: 12V
Speed: 2450 rpm
Air Flow: 48 CFM
Noise Level: 30.0 dBA

yeah, i went with the panaflo as i may be getting a new(much quiter) case soon. and the difference was only $3, plus i got the L1B model.

i don't know why people are so agro on message boards. i could have said the xp90 doesn't support 120mm... but i'd rather just say you're wrong. because, you know, that was my intention all along.

I'll take the cookie, too much potassium as it is so no thanks for the banana. It's just annoying being told you are wrong even though you know you're right. Ah, whatever, I was just trying to help the guy.
