What factors affect the angular velocity of a DC motor (besides wiring type)?)

Going to build a DC motor soon, fastest one wins. Any tips on material type, construction, etc. would be extremely helpful.

number of rotors, number of windings per rotor, input voltage/current. There are many, many factors.

I'd suggest getting a book on DC/electric machines at the library, this subject is like half a quarter's worth of material.

Don't forget the bearings. Magnets should be ridiculously strong, preferably rare-earth or another extreme strength version.

what I'd suggest is going to radio shack, buy a slow and fast motor (based on rpm) and do a teardown of each.
