What exactly is the difference between a catpult and a trebuchet?

Trebuchets are more powerful than catapults of similar size, when set up properly.

Saw a video once of a trebuchet tossing a piano rather nicely.

In high school senior year we had to build a catapult and try to hit our teacher from 30ft away with an egg. My team built ours out of scraps of wood and old nails, we called it the shady-pult. Needless to say, we hit the teacher on the top of the head, bypassing her facemask, and getting egg all over in her hair We were the class heros, and we received a 100% for hitting out target!
