What exactly is slipstreaming?

I've seen so many people do a slipstream of SP2. I was wondering if someone can summarize what exactly slipstreaming does, what the benefits are, and if I need it at all. I already DL'ed SP2 from microsoft and installed it.

My slipstream conquest

Slipstreaming essentially incorporates all the Microsoft Service Packs and hotfixes into the initial Windows install so you don't have to go and install them after you've installed Windows. It's quite a time saver.

You can then take it to the extreme and use the various script executions inside windows to add users, perform registry tweaks, and even install programs during the install. It's quite a powerful development tool. I learned a lot by doing it and had a lot of fun too. It should greatly cut down on my Windows reformat and install times.

WOW. Nice. I should really look into this. Is there a tutorial that allows me to edit some of the registry tweaks for every install (prefetch, alwaysunloaddll)?
