What exactly is RSS and do you use it?

Resource Description Framework Site Summary.

It's a way of organizing data in any given page so that it can be transmitted into a summary of links or descriptions. Also a way of obtaining data from websites that can be used in local or web applications to display said data.

That's my understanding of it, anyway. There may be other uses.

Check out Bloglines. It has totally changed the way I surf at work. 🙂

I've signed up for a bunch of web comics, Engadget, Joystiq, Quotes of the Day, etc. Very easy to use. Give it a try.

RSS = a way to get updates to sites easily. For example, if you subscribe to the RSS "News" feed at CNN.com, you'll be able to quickly see all of the latest headlines. You can do this with forums, comic websites, news websites, blogs, etc. Rather than having to spend 30 minutes browsing Engadget, Anandtech, Gizmodo, Dailytech, and whatever other sites you frequent, you can just glance at the latest headlines and see if there are any of interested. I use both Firefox and Netvibes. Check out Netvibes here:

That's why I like Bloglines. It's just a website that aggregates content. No installation, no pop-ups, access from any computer.
