What exactly is LPCIO?

I'm guessing it's the clock generator chip on a mobo, but...I may be off.

Anyone can confirm what it is exactly?

TIA

Edit for my own Answer

upon tackling the search from a different angle (namely googling a specific LPCIO reported by CPU-Z) I was able to find out that LPCIO is actually 2 acronyms Run Together:

LPC I/O
Low Pin Count (referring to the chip package) I/O (Input/Output)

I now believe that most monitoring programs actually get their data from these chips on the mobo.

It is A BASIC INPUT-OUTPUT CONTROLLER THAT CONTROLS CHIP LEVEL INPUT OUTPUTS OF THE MOTHERBOARD LIKE MONITORING CPU VOLTAGE FAN SPEED ETC...

How do people even dig up old threads like this?

This is certainly an unnatural ability. Damn Sith lords.
