What exactly is "game compatiable device" under the audio tab of sounds and multimedia?

Okay heres the deal. MY aunt bought this disney typing tutor and it would not work on her computer. She called tech sup and they told her
"went into disney interative customer support they

That is most of the email she just sent me. The computer she has is a gateway that I think was meant for buisness more then pleasure which is prolly why she has been having some problems with it. But I did install an SB Live MP3+ in it and that is what she is using for a sound card. So what exactly will changing her playback device to game comptiable device do? Do you think that will solve the problem?
