What exactly do I do with CALs?

We recently purchased Windows 2000 server w/ 10 CALS at the office. I went and configured Win2k server but it never actually asked for the CAL numbers. Are they relying on an "honors" system with these CALs, or is there something I am missing? All the client computers are running WinXP Pro and have never asked for a key number to comunicate w/ the server.

There is a license manager component, but your right, basically it's the honor system (if the honor system is we'll randomly audit you via the BEA and fine ya if you cheat )
