You have to pay the difference of the old card and the price of the new card??? I thought you just got the new card for free after you sent in your old one.

Whats so special about this? Why wouldnt people just sell their old card on ATFS or ebay? Does evga take the old card in at the MSRP price?

Say buy a 7950GX2 for 550 dollars... 1 month later an 8800GTX comes out for 650

You pay them 100 bucks to get the 8800GTX, what is the problem???

Why are you complaining about paying the difference?

I think they deduct the price that you paid originally. They wouldn't deduct MSRP for sure.

Selling the card on eBay or other places will more than likely lead to a loss on what you paid for it originally...although in my case I got lucky and made a profit on my 7900GTO :D .

You pay whatever current MSRP is on the new card less your cards current MSRP. :)

Damn thats some f*** good deal.... unlike ATIs previous program that let u take whatever card u have for $50 and give u the new card at whatever their MSRP was... if i payed 250 for my card they only credit u 50... which relle made no sense

hahahahahaha

Yes let us give away the top of the line card every time a new one is released just because you bought last generations top of the line.

New MSRP - You Paid = New Card
Alot better than
New Price - 0 = New Card

No, EVGA applies the amount you paid for the original card toward the new one. You have to provide proof of purchase, showing the price paid, when you fill out the Step-up form. So, if you paid $450 for a card with an MSRP of $495, they will apply $450 toward the new card. You then pay the difference.

Tenth bullet listed here describes the process.

As an owner of an EVGA 8800GTS, the step up program was one of the reasons why I went with EVGA. However, it's not quite all it's cracked up to be. If I wanted to step up to an 8800GTX, I'd have to pay MSRP price on the card ($619), even though it's going for nearly a hundred dollars cheaper online. Overall, I'd say you save more money by selling your card and buying a new one; the step up really only comes into play in situations where you buy a card which is shortly replaced by a newer, better one.

This is wrong! They do not give you MSRP of your current card. They give you what you paid for it. But you must buy their card at MSRP. Its only really nice if you buy top of the line cards at basically MSRP all the time.

They would never would do that. Otherwise people could buy a Geforce 7 or 6 series card and then instantly step up to a free 8800gtx.
