What ever happened to "video card shootout" articles in popular PC game magazines?

I recall 4-5 years ago that the major PC game magazines (Computer Gaming Magazine, PC Gamer, etc.) would run an article on video cards with an indepth "chart" of 24-36 video cards with all the benches and specs every 18 months or so.

Seems like they stopped since pretty much only 2 video chip companies exist (i.e., they controll 95% of the market (or more).

They realise that online sites have already done it i guess, but as you say it is strange, i personally would be more likely to buy one if they ever did...

I gave up reading computer magazines a long time ago. They haven't got a clue what they're talking about. If I want to know what's going on with a type of hardware, I do my research on the web, starting with the relevant AT forum.

QFT Plus with thier lead times they were reporting on what happened 2 or 3 months ago. In this industry that belongs in a history book.

Here is a link to a recent mini roundup with a few benchmarks and prices.

they just did one in Computer Games recently, not with 24-36 cards, but a brief overview of the best in class and best bang for the buck.
