what ever happened to the Microsoft C# Newsgroup?

I rely on this place heavily for all things C# so I am horrified to find the place seems to have been gutted. When I go there lately it is just empty - yet it was very active and if I post to it (which it apparently still lets me do) I dont see my post ever show up.

Yea, I vaguely remember a recent story about MS slowly killing off their newsgroups and forcing everyone to move to web forums.
