What ever happened to the early 90's band Extreme?

I've been listening to the Pornograffitti CD lately...one of my favs back then and it still is today. The songs have a real 80's style, glam rock type hooks to them, but the guitar work is AMAZING. Nuno Bettancourt (sp?) was (is?) sooooooo talented.

As a guitarist myself, I can say that his technical expertise is big-time scary. :Q

Why'd they break up...well, besides the fact they made millions overnight and got big heads about it? I know that Gary Cherone was the singer for Van Halen for about 35 seconds or so, but after that, I never heard anything about any one of the band members. Anyone know?

Extreme died like many other bands did in the early 90s. it wasnt because of kurt cobain like those morons frm RS mag preach. it was because of those moronic record companies who thought people liked alternative music and started to shove down alternative music down people's throats. Rock media people who themselves were nerds killed the rock star.....had a field day and started praising unknown rock bands thru the roof....just like that b@stard lester bangs did in the late 70s and early 80s..What do we see as a consequence of this, average rap music and alternative music, though some bands like the foo fighters keep carrying the torch of rock. before anyone jumps on me , i like rap music, i've listened to quite a few albums, but too many mediocre albums coming out these days.It has been ages since i've listened to a song with a killer hook....of the new bands i do have to say that new band SOAD seems to be pretty impressive.

Hey, we think alike on this subject! :) I agree; this "new music" has been crammed down our throats for about a decade now. 99% of it is crap.

Yes they went their separate ways. Nuno produced an album called NUNO, then formed the band Mourning Widows.

I have the NUNO CD and the first MW CD. Pretty good stuff.

Gary Cherone, the lead singer, signed on with Van Halen for 1 album, then they went back to Sammy.
