what ever happened to that whole "planet x" hype?

There has been this huge conspiracy that a planet (planet x) is gonna come so close to the earth that the gravitational disturbance is gonna cause mass destruction or some crap like that. Whatever happened to these theories? They say even a former NASA scientist believed it was true.

I think that the planet X you're mentioning was found to be a moon of pluto. Don't think there's any danger of it coming near earth, though.

yeah and now people are too busy arguing about if pluto is even a planet or not.
is it not grand to be a culture to afford such luxery?

yeah, we don't need to worry about no giant asteroid planets crashing into earch when we're gonna bio-nuke ourselves in the next 100 years

In a more serious note (meening not on the fear that a planet will collide with Earth in the near future), eariler this year (meaning school year, so 2002), astronomers found a large mass orbitting the Sun farther than Pluto. It is called Quaoar. linky

Large as in just about the size of pluto? Pluto isn't very big.

i think the guy that made it up was trying to sell his book... wasn't the apocalypse supposed to happen like may 15th?

Is this anything like the Jupiter Effect of the '80s. I forget when but someone in the 80's most of the planets were going to be on the same side of the sun and were going to pull the sun or earth apart...

At the bottom of this page, is a quick description...
