what ever happened to that n64 expansion?

theres a port on the bottom of the console, i remember seeing something about it in a magazine before the console was even out. where you set the n64 on top and the new lower piece was like a zip game drive or something wierd.

It was released in Japan i think.....it had a hard drive and stuff......
