What ever happened to network cards?

Do people just not mention them when buying computers because they're so cheap? Or is there an Ethernet port directly to the mobo now? If, so how many? Just 1?

Most motherboards have one onboard, sometimes two. If you want to scope some motherboards out, try http://www.newegg.com and they have spec listings and pictures that'll help you see what onboard features the motherboards have, including network ports
