So I just picked up Max Payne 2- I'm not a big gamer but it was on sale and I never turn down a good FPS... I'm in the middle of studying and decided to take a break and try it out... I got lost jumping from window to window after spending 20 minutes watching a movie! grr! Don't get me wrong, it's all so very cinematic but whatever happened to just "blowing sh1t up?" Any good games out there that don't make you sit through cut scenes every 5 minutes of action and don't force you to navigate mazes???

No, the Angry Mother's Commission determined that mindless distractions like that cause mass murders in high schools.

Serious Sam- liked that game.. Very old school though... Any newer, good 1 person fps? I rarely have more than 20 min at a time to game so I can't get into online gaming or long narrative games like max payne (also, i'm aware that max payne is more 3rd person than fp...)

But mindless violence helps us college kids get through nights cramming for finals :)

CS still rocks

Never got into CS.. I remember picking up a tactical game and having to spend hours learning how to aim properly, how to walk very slowly like, how to.. blah blah blah.. It felt like I was in a college lecture... Don't get me wrong- I understand that those games are very rich and rewarding.. I just have so little time in a day that games for me have to be pure entertainment and can't have a steep learning curve... Maybe when I'm retired i'll pick up an xbox7 and some of those Tom Clancy games...

Grand Theft Auto much???

That is what I play when I got a taste for mindless violence.

You know, I got bored of GTA3 and V.C. (for pc) pretty quickly.. I should dig up my install cds and give it a go again though.. any other suggestions? Still great games mind you, just would like some other choices (I'm selling MaxPayne on ebay - I'll just watch L.A. Confidential if I want a police drama)

Manhunt on the PS2, already banned in a few countries.

I can't wait for some news editor to blame the next plastic-bag murder on Manhunt. :D

It'll happen, just give it a little time. I'll take this theory even further; the game publisher will be sued.
