I was watching a show called "the curse of the Bambino" on TV and saw the famous grounder that slipped through Bill Buckners legs. He looked so distraught after that play and in the final game. Does anyone know what ever happened to him? I wonder when was the last time they interviewed him. Does he still feel impacted/guilty/depressed about that play? just wondering

Thanks

dude he climbed up the green monster and jumped off and went splat. Didn't you hear? falls from 120 feet are horrible to watch, you haven't seen that footage? consider yourself lucky.....

good article! Man I remember the '86 series very well. I could probably rattle off both teams' rosters from the countless times I replayed it in Strat-o-matic.

Norwood had no excuse

Buckner should have never been playing. He had to wear hightops to support his failing ankles

When did they add 85 feet to the monster?

As much as his play should never had happened, he was known as a bad fielder.
He was on the field so he could be there when they won. Ya that was dumb, he could have
enjoyed it just as much by running out from dugout.
Game was already tied at that point. So they were going extra innings anyway.

and a while back he sold his 86 ALCS ring.

Hey did you see that bridge they built in boston, where all the cars go right through the legs?

They named it the Bill Buckner bridge...

Except that it was his second longest outdoor kick attempt ever.

47 yards? That's pathetic

yeah, read that article as well.

I heard that it was the manager's decision to play buckner at 1st base at the start of the 10th inning. They also said that buckner ankles had been deteriorating at that point. But i heard that without Buckner, the sox would not have made it that far.

here are a couple of thoughts/facts i wanted to share:

-Buckner moved his family to Idaho, go figure.

-The sox let Buckner go in 1987 but resigned him in 1990, go figure.

-from watching some of the clips on the show "the curse of the bambino", they show this one clip of buckner walking back to the dugout, throws his helmet to the bench and sits on the steps opposite the bench, back to the field. I mean, just to see the look on his face really struck me. He looked terrible, like he was gonna burst out in tears.

-again, I wish there was a recent interview with Buckner out there. I am just curious to see if he still blames himself or if he's gotten over it. I guess not since Buckner and Mookie Wilson were togeter signing autographs and stuff.

-Again, from the show i watched, they were saying that even if Buckner stopped the ball, he would not have been able to run down wilson to first. (Not sure if this is true or if the pitcher was covering first at the time)

Just my thoughts
