What ever happened to Barcelona?
It's out of stock everywhere, and it's not even on eBay too much. Did it just die?
There is a quad Socket F (1207) board that I wanted to test with Barcelona for compatibility (and for 16 cores of F@H) but I can't find Barcelona anywhere.

Did AMD just drop it in favor for older dual-core Opterons?

The TLB erratum was serious enough for AMD to completely stop shipment of it, except for specific customers.

I thought the TLB erratum was only for clock speeds above 2.2GHz. I thought 1.9GHz/2.0GHz chips weren't affected, and I guess I forgot that the TLB affected Barcelona AND Agena, not just Agena.

I guess I'll have to wait for the "fixed" steppings, if they ever come...

No it wasn't, the TLB erratum was for everything, it went from "rare" to "almost always" at sufficiently high clock speeds, or when performing typical server tasks, which is what barcelona was targeting to begin with.

And the bios fix takes WAY more then 10% of performance when doing server type applications.

Basically the chip is useless for its intended purpose (databases, farms, etc)... and if you want to use it for simple desktop / gaming usage where the TLB is arguably no an issue, then you can just buy phenom...

"AMD supports Torrent search site with quad-core Opterons

With a lot of talk about TLB-errata and allegations of instabilities, there is no better way to test various micro-code updates than on highest-load environment such as one on world's 159th largest website [isohunt.com]."
