Not an issue as far as I'm concerned...how many born children have we left behind? How many live and die in poverty? Why the fuck are the unborn of such concern to the religious hypocrites? How many women and children have we killed in the middle east over the past 10 years? I guess they were all killed in God's name so it's okay.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Sermon (January 1946), as quoted in Martin Niemöller, 1892-1984 (1984) by James Bentley, p. 177

If I didn't speak out for the unborn, who aren't capable of defending themselves, that would make me a hypocrite.

I think you are black

This reminds me of the the movie "The Jerk". Steve Martin played Navin R. Johnson. The humor here is that Johnson is obviously white.

Navin R. Johnson: Huh? I am *not* a bum. I'm a jerk. I once had wealth, power, and the love of a beautiful woman. Now I only have two things: my friends, and... uh... my thermos. Huh? My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi...

Why do you say that? Other than some good literature, the Irish contribution to the world is quite limited.

Not true, the Irish have us the cop on the beat in the early 40's and 50's. They aslo gave us a shit load of drunk irish jokes and the biggie St. Patty Day when every shmuck thinks they are irish.

Ashkenazi Jews.

but at the same time, they carry Tay-Sachs disease. Hell, I believe you have to get a blood test to determine carrier status before you can even marry if you are Ashkenazi. Carriers can not wed--or at least are strongly encouraged not to.

zero, actually.

You see, life is a prerequisite of murder.

A scientific textbook called “Basics of Biology” gives five characteristics of living things; these five criteria are found in all modern elementary scientific textbooks:
1. Living things are highly organized.
2. All living things have an ability to acquire materials and energy.
3. All living things have an ability to respond to their environment.
4. All living things have an ability to reproduce.
5. All living things have an ability to adapt.
An unborn child fulfills all of these criteria.

Canadians for their architecture, they invented the igloo :)

Au contraire. We've invented quite a bit. Here's a few.
-The walker: keeping seniors everywhere upright
-The air-conditioned railway coach
-The AC mains powered radio
-The G-Suit: protects fighter pilots from black/redouts
-The automatic postal sorter
-Basketball
-The electric stove
-The electric lightbulb: invented by Henry Woodward who later sold the patent to Edison, who perfected the design. Edison's mother was from Nova Scotia and he briefly worked in Stratford, Ontario in his youth.
-The electron microscope
-The electric streetcar
-The plastic garbage bad
-The gramophone, invented by Alexander Graham Bell as an improvement to Edison's phonograph
-The pacemaker
-North America's first jetliner
-JAVA programming code
-Kerosene, which is now used as jet fuel
-The Music synthesizer
-Newsprint
-Plexiglas
-Railway car break and sleeper car
-Quartz clock
-The Robertson Screw: It's square head laughs at your star ones.
-Standard time
-Telephone
-Television camera
-The Zipper

you sir, are an idiot. :D

also, don't start arguing with me about scientific understandings, and various definitions of life. It will not end well for you.

This, this and this.

Hes just spreading his jesusfud. A fetus is nothing more than a clump of semi specialized cells that is unable to live outside of the womb. It is not alive.

Because a website called priests for life isnt biased at all.

Anyways, who says you can tell a woman what to do with her own body?

I have presented the criteria of life and provided a link that show images of aborted babies.

If you want to persist in your view that an unborn baby isn't a living human being, I don't have much else to say to you.

It's interesting that rather than responding to this information, you try to change the argument.

Anyway, this is way off-topic to this thread. I only brought this up because how can we claim moral superiority to a culure that kills its female babies when we have killed 10's of millions of unborn babies in the US?

Look at these pictures and tell me that these aborted babies aren't human beings.

You're a shill, and you probably have no qualms about murdering doctors and innocent patients in support of your misguided and uninformed "cause."
There's a special place in hell for you and your type. Along with the other misguided jihadis of that other large faith that you (perhaps) disdain with equal aplomb.

Also, I'm still waiting for you to show me a single case where a bag of cells developing in any mammalian womb was capable of reproduction. :D

I'm a geneticist, numbskull. I've published work in developmental embryology. Perhaps the simplest argument for how incredibly wrong you are that I can give is this:

conception is no guarantee of life. Natural, spontaneous abortion occurs far more regularly than you think. You probably have no clue what that is. You will probably start stumbling to justify why God would allow such a thing to happen. You probably can't justify the incredible percentage of mistakes needed for an evolving system, how such happens, and how an infallible God is capable of such mistakes.

Also, scientific (medical) definitions of life differ drastically depending on whether you are talking to a neurologist, cardiologist, developmental biologist, molecular biologist, etc...

Sorry, but your elementary attempt to post info from an "elementary science text" is frankly, quite laughable. :D

Oh, and link a credible source that cites "10s of millions" as an actual statistic in terms of US abortions. Jesus Christ, I suspect you haven't a single independent thought bouncing around in that dome.

You could be a Nobel Prize winner, but you still have a lot to learn about interacting with others. Slander and name calling doesn't help you case, it weakens it. You'll have more success in life if you are respectful of others.

With regard to your point, barring pathology and pending reproductive maturity, an unborn baby has the potential to reproduce other members of the species

Both you need to shut up and get back on track. Take your self absorbed close minded discussion to pm.

Oh and back to the Irish. They gave us the potato :)
