What email program do you use?

I started using Eudora a year or two ago after a bunch of viruses came out that abused Outlook and Outlook Express's security holes.

However, in the last few months I've gotten 3 viruses through Eudora anyway; sent in junkmail as attachments.

So does it matter any more?

Which do you use and why?

Thanks.

If you run all the attachments you get without a virus scanner you deserve what you get. The big thing with OE is that it uses the IE renderer to display it's messages and every few weeks there's a new problem with that renderer that allows OE to run programs without asking you, which is a lot worse than running it yourself and shooting yourself in the foot.

To stay on topic I use Mozilla in Windows and Evolution in Linux. I believe Mozilla will have an option to let you force it to display HTML mail as plain-text, which I'll happily be using soon as it's released.

pine

I've used mutt in the past, but the UI seems kludgy (but powerful) without significant customization. pine is clean and simple (albeit limited).

I've used web based e-mail as well as OE for a couple of years now, as the main thing I use my linux box for is programming. I've always had Norton's E-Mail autoscan on, and never had a problem.

I recently switched to Eudora, just for the absolute hell of it. 😎
