I got new computer parts. I just need any extras that I will need to finalize the build. I plan to overclock cpu and a gpu a little bit.
I have:
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
Evga gtx260
NZXT Guardian 921
E8400
Will recycle hdd,ram, dvd drive

My main concern is the hsf. I am not sure which one is good. I dislike my current p4 hsf which has the push pins, because they are a mess and break easy(plastic). I have the thermal paste that came with e8400, do I need another kind? What about ram, do I have to have drr2 800 ram to overclock the cpu? Mine are only 512mb ddr2 400 x 2 and one 512mb 667.

Well, as far as aftermarket coolers are concerned...the ones that will fit perfect are as follows.....

CoolerMaster V8
CoolerMaster Hyper 212
CoolerMaster Z600
Thermalright TRUE
OCZ Vendetta 2
Thermaltake MaxOrb
ZEROTherm ZEN
ZEROTherm Nirvana
Xigmatek 1284

I currently have a TRUE Black on its way to me. But I am considering picking up a CoolerMaster V8 and comparing both heavyweights for best of the best :) And then this morning I ordered the Cooler Master Hyper 212. It is VERY nice as well.

I may be also changing out the stock sinks on the Northbridge and the Mosfets with something from Thermalright.[/quote]

I found that the Tuniq Tower will fit on the UD3P as well with little modification. The hold down bracket for the Tower, you must cut off the K8 tits. And it fits perfectly.

As seen in this video here.

Gigabyte UD3P / Tuniq Tower 120 does indeed fit with little mod

Since the UD3P and the UD3R is identical in northbridge coolers and mosfet coolers, this should also apply to your board.

DDR2 400 isn't going to cut it even for stock operation with an E8400. DDR2-667 will run fine at stock speeds, but won't allow you to overclock unless your memory will also overclock.

DDR2-800 will let you take the E8400 up to 3.6GHz. If you want to go faster than that, you'll need DDR2-1000.

Even if your old RAM were up to the task, there's no reason to hamstring a nice new build with 1.5GB of RAM. New games want more than that.

Yep exactly. Mine as well spring for 4GB since it's so damn cheap

The Freezer7 is also good but yet again pushpins suck. I just ordered the kit to change it to screws.
