Hey guys,

I'm trying my best to get by with a Ti4200 and my XP 2100+ with 1 Gig RAM.

I'm going to overclock my Ti4200 and my cpu to an XP2700 level (have done the cpu before no problem), but I'm still wondering...

Am I missing any kind of heat wave effects are anything like that versus using a 5900 XT or a Radeon 9800 XT (and better cards too of course)?

I've only played twice so far and am only past the part where you get the chaingun. I haven't seen any of the effects I've heard others talk about regarding "heat wave shimmering", and just want to know if that comes later, or if those effects are only on DX 9 cards?

Thanks for the help you guys..and please no Doom3 bashing...I already agree the AI should be better and that it's largely a HL copy....but I'm just going to enjoy it for the fun it offers then sell my copy on ebay. Until then I just want to be sure I get the most out of it. :)

Definitely missing some higher framerates. Heat effects/waves do have that blur/shimmer thing happening also.
