What each temp sensor is measuring?

Gigabyte MA785GPMT-UD2H; Antec Sonata III; Win7Pro - Speedfan 4.40 is reporting four temperatures. One is called "Core", and is sitting around 24 degC. The other three are "temp1,2,3", and all are in the range of 32 - 36 degC.

Can anyone tell me what each of these are measuring? It is hard for me to believe that the one called "core" is the CPU die, since it is the coolest of the bunch.

When I stalled the CPU fan, "core" and "temp2" began to rise immediately. After a brief delay, "temp3" began a slow rise as well. I am guessing that "core" is really the CPU heatsink, and "temp2" is the CPU die itself.
