What DVD should I buy tonight?

I want to buy either a Sci-Fi or an Action or Horror movie. Something big, loud and scary to give the HT a workout.

I own LOTR...what's this "extended edition?" Does it have deleted scenes and stuff? I'm waiting for the Two Towers to come out on DVD...should be out a week after the movie.

Spidey did have good special effecs...but I dunno if that movies worth spending $20 on.

Kami will be able to give you a better description, but here is a quick rundown.

The Special Edition (or whatever they call it) has something like 30 minutes of extra footage. Basically, some of the scenes in the theatrical release were cut short to make the movie more time manageable for the masses. So this release adds the extra bit to those scenes.

The important part here is that this is not the theatrical release and there is no way to view the theatrical release (well you could fast forward the extra scenes, but thats it). This one comes on 4 DVD's, the standard edition is 2. This also has a bunch of extras on it.

Again, Kami can give you the exact details, but here is the rundown. And I think its due out on the 12th or 15th or something like that.

I was thinking along similar line since I just got my Dark City DVD back from a friend (who had it for 5 months!) Forgot how awesome that one was. Definitely one of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen. It's got a similar concept to Matrix (although it came out a year and half before Matrix) but is much more calculating and visually stylish than the Matrix IMO. I don't know about the HT workout, but I cranked it on mine and it sounded pretty good.

Some great suggestions! Thanks! Honestly, I like LOTR and will buy the TT when it's out..but I'm not a a fan-nut (not that there's anything wrong w/that!) and won't spend the extra $$$ to get the 4-DVD LOTR Extended Play set.
