What Dual Core Supported Motherboard and Bios Now?

The more appropriate question is, can you boot an X2 on a board without proper BIOS support, at least for the purpose of installing the new BIOS? DFI's support thought that was a stupid question (just buy an additional already supported CPU, you idiot), so they've lost me as a customer. I'm hoping that the ASUS A8N-SLI will allow this.

I believe ASUS boards will at least boot with a dual core processor so you can update the bios. Yeah, that's dumb about those DFI support people. I don't have an AMD 64 processor either, so everything will be coming to me new. Here's to hoping the A8V Deluxe allows me to at least update the bios.

Yes, we need compatibility confirmation on the Asus A8V Deluxe !

Good news for us - I just read the A8V Deluxe manual and it has this utility called EZFlash that allows you to update the bios with an A: disk before posting. We're going to be good either way.

well, when i got my winnie with the a8v deluxe, it had an unsupported bios. i just cleared cmos, and put in the floppy with the bios on it, and flashed. hopefully it will work with the x2.

Yes it should work. And all of the Asus boards that have AWDFlash support including the A8N- series the bios can be updated this way

1. Save the the DOS version of the DC bios and the appropiate version AWDFlash to a floppy. The readme file with the bios will tell which version of AWDFlash you need
2. Put the floppy in and boot. Follow the instructions for the flash utility and flash the bios.
