What DS games should I buy?

Just bought a DS with New Mario - great stuff so far but I need some different games.

Is there a good RPG or adventure game? Something with a story? Apparently FF3 doesn't have much of a story...

A 3D shooter? Does the 3D actually look and play good on any existing game? I tried metroid and thought it was ugly and hard to control, although the 3D maps in new mario are quite crisp.

Can you actually fly and and fully control your ship in Star Fox, or do you just point a cursor at targets while the ship keeps on flying? Are there any other flying games?

Any must have games of any kind?

There are quite a few topics on this already. Even the broken search will get you at least one of them.

You actually control your ship with the stylus in Star Fox.

An awesome game I had a change to play recently was Elite Beat Agents. It's the most ridiculous, hilarious and awesome thing I've seen on the DS so far. Really fun and difficult as well. Watch the videos. More

Metroid was annoying at first, but once you play it for a while it becomes really smooth. Almost any game with the Wi-Fi logo on the box is a winner: Metroid, Tetris, Mario Kart. All great games and the ability to play them online worldwide makes them infinitely replayable. It doesn't get much better than 4 player free for all tetris online.

The Japanese version is full of J-pop songs and has no English in it at all. Most of the reviews I've read say that EBA is actually MORE polished and more difficult at the harder settings than the original.

the jpop songs fit the games crazy atmosphere better in my opinion. plus i dont want to hear some of the songs on the usa version.

all u gotta do is goto gamefaqs to get the menu translations.

but to each his own.

In the case of EBA, I'd definitely rather listen to J-pop than the songs that are in the US version. I compare it to DDR - I don't want to dance to american songs, I want to dance to stuff that I don't understand. It's more fun that way.

Agreed, the Japanese one is even more fun. The american one stinks in comparison.

I just copied and pasted this from another thread a couple of days ago since I'm so sick of the OTO > EBA crap that keeps flying around.

I was hesitant about Elite Beat Agents. So hesitant, I had to wait to use $25 BB bucks on it before I bought it because I didn't want to sink more than 5 bucks in to it. Huge mistake. I should have bought it the day it came out for the full thirty bucks. Worth every cent. Haven't been able to put it down.

The people that tell you EBA is garbage and OTO is the bomb are just elitist idiots. OTO isn't better than EBA. EBA isn't better than OTO. They're equally as awesome. Some people just have to be music elitists and diss the music in EBA while cheering listening to lyrics 90% of them don't understand. Buy EBA. If you like it buy OTO. EBA is a lot more accessible to the NA market and from then you can decide whether or not you like enough to buy OTO. They're both awesome games and worth the eighty bucks or so it would cost you to get both.
