I need to know what drivers to install for my Abit TH711 (socket478) mailboard. At Intels site the have........

Intel® Application Accelerator
Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility
Intel® Ultra ATA Storage Driver
Intel® Bus Master IDE driver

Whats the difference between the Bus master IDE and the Ultra ATA driver, or should I just install all of them ?

At the very least, you must install the Chipset Software inf Drivers (Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility).

What to install next generally depends what OS you are running. If you are running Win98/SE, there is no need to install anything else.

If you are running WinME/2K/XP, you may wish to install the Intel Application Accelerator. This is actually the latest version of the Ultra ATA Storage Drivers, under a new name, so there is no need to install the Storage Drivers.

Do not install the Bus Master IDE Driver, as this is meant for Win95A (without the DMA Controls), and is really not meant for i8xx chipsets at all. The Bus Master IDE Drivers are for PIIX3 and PIIX4 chipsets (430HX, TX, VX, 440FX/GX, LX/EX, BX/ZX).

You MUST install Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility. The storage drivers are optional. Of the 3 you list, I would only use the Intel Application Accelerator drivers, not the other 2.
