I installed Vista 32bit on an Asus 650i P5N-E SLI motherboard.

All the drivers on the CD that came with the motherboard are old and are for Window XP, so I don't dare to install any of those.

I guess I should just install the latest Nvidia 650 SLI chipset drivers?

I have a SATA optical drive and a 320GB SATA hard drive, I'm not doing any kind of RAID setup so I guess I don't need any SATA drivers or anything do I? I noticed in the ASUS download section for this mobo they have tons of RAID drivers and SATA drivers but I wasn't sure if I needed any of those.

The Asus download section is cluttered with so many files I can't tell which is which, I think Asus needs to do some major organization changes. They should just create a utility that scans your computer and tells you which drivers you need like Gigabyte does and Nvidia now offers a tools that does this same thing as well. So much easier.....

GHz,

The site you showed me isn't where I go to download drivers. Go to Download on that page then select Motherboard, 775, and P5NE-SLI. That will give you sections for each kind of driver. Within each section, look for Vista 32bit and the latest driver and download it.

As for raid, you really need RAID/AHCI drivers so your SATA devices will run at SATA speeds and not at IDE speeds. I think they are in the SATA section...

You do need to load AHCI drivers BEFORE you install Windows. Main thing is to select AHCI on the first page of the BIOS BEFORE you install Windows, then select F6 as soon as Windows install starts, there you load the AHCI drivers.

Since you have already installed Windows, you can try a repair install using the Windows Install CD. First, go into BIOS and select AHCI instead of IDE. Second, put the Windows CD in the CD tray and start the install process. Hit F6 as soon as it asks for it. Now select the SECOND "R" that comes up during install (not the R for Recovery Console but second time you see an R, for repair). Then continue, go through an almost normal install process. This will keep all your programs and settings AND will install your SATA/AHCI drivers.

Now when you start all should work as you want it...

Good luck, Noel
