Hey guys,

Just curious what drivers i should be using with my new x800. For some reason when i try to change the AGPX slider, it says the computer needs to reboot to find safe conditions, and it always comes up as off even tho the motherboard for sure supports AGP 8X (it is the chaintech VNF3-250)

Any ideas to the cause? Suggestions? The card idles at about 36C and will get to 53C after 30 minutes of far cry.

My computer specs are as follows:

A64 3000+
chaintech VNF3-250 mobo
Mushkin level 1 pc 3500 - (1 gig 2X512)

cats 4.6 are great. some people can't get them to work but they give great performance compared to 4.5s. your AGP speed doesn't really matter anyway I don't think, 4x and 8x are more or less the same.

btw 17000 3dmark01 is quite low for that card

I don't know if it's the driver that's causing your AGP problems; it's more than likely it's your chipset drivers for your motherboard. Download the latest forceware from nVidia.

In any event, you should be running the Catalyst 3.6 drivers that were released last week.

17000 sounds fine in 3Dmark 2001, I get the same with my R9700PRO on my Mobile Barton at 2500mhz. It's a CPU-limited benchmark; you should be using UT2004 and Far Cry to benchmark your card if anything.

I think you mean 4.6s ;) but yes I would install the latest ATI drivers, make sure the Nvidia AGP chipset driver is installed, you can try playing with the fastwrites on and off and see if you can get 8x AGP with fastwrites off,if it`s off already try it with fastwrites on.

Btw Driver Cleaner is what I always use for clean driver installs,Driver Cleaner link .
