Are there dual core ones like the AMDs? Or is it just the Win XP dual core hotfix? Thanks!

1) Intel Inf pack for 975/965 chipsets
2) Network Driver for your mobo
3) Intel ICH7 AHCI or Raid drivers if you use them. You might need them on a floppy for a fresh install.

They should come with your mobo (in a CD). You can also download the latest version and install them instead of upgrading later.

No specific CPU drivers like AMD. Speedstep works out of the box, just set the Energy settings to Minimum Power and have EIST activated on BIOS.

The only driver you need to load during WinXP installation is the SATA controller driver. Everything else you can download from their respective manufacturer website.

WinXP Pro SP2 is fully compatible w/ C2D.

the dual core fix is needed on any multicore platform with windows XP.

that is if you use old programs or games which cannot handle the 2 cores properly. then Windows automatically loads only one core, and the program behaves normally.

I'd say no, mainly for compatibility and lack of mature drivers. Wait for Vista if you want 64bit.

Is the SATA controller driver necessary if I am not using RAID? On Gigabytes website there are 4 downloads: Audio, Chipset, LAN and SATA RAID...

Do I need the SATA RAID if I am not using RAID? or is is SATA and RAID (2 things in one driver)

Yes. I had the HD plugged into one of the purple SATA sockets, which is controlled by the JMicron/Gigabyte controller. Loaded the Gigabyte driver I got from Gigabyte's site during WinXP installation, then switched the HD over to the orange sockets, which is the chipset Intel controller, after WinXP and all its updates were installed.
