The FUD spread here's annoying, people shouldn't speak on things they have no 1st hand knowledge about. Neither phone is better than the other when it comes to modding, and apparently I'm the only one here who's actually invested time modding both. Not being a baby, I was simply correcting a erroneous statement. If some dude spread FUD that iOS was more modable I'd be posting the same thing.

Fighting off the spread of FUD? Wow.. might as well unplug the entire Internet if that's so annoying to you. The Internet is full of FUD... you can either accept it for what it is or you can be a baby and throw tantrums every time someone annoys you with their FUD-spreading.

I realized that was just a resized simi clock, I thought it was somehow customizable in the 4x2 widget and was confused =)

I've since gone from sense->go launcher and love resizing widgets (mainly because I'm on a 5x5 grid now).

Just because YOU can mod both phones, doesn't mean they're equally easy to do. I don't understand why you keep beating on this dead horse. YES with enough effort and know how you CAN mod out a iPhone... but it isn't easy

1. you have to jailbreak...
2. you have to spend money on Cydia apps..
3. You can't upgrade your phone with the latest iOS software

I can mod the crap out of my android phone without even rooting. I don't have to PAY for any apps to do it... and I can customize pretty damn far in 15 minutes without editing any files of any kind.

Stop denying reality.
 
I don't understand why people put a clock widget on their home screen when they already have a clock in their notification bar. Oh well, different strokes.

I prefer the clock widget, I look at that most of the time. The only reason I keep the clock in the notification bar (rom has option to remove it) is so I can see it when I'm in apps.

The only thing good about Apple products are the displays. I've praised those for years even on their monitors.

Mine is 480x800. Super AMOLED looks spectacular.

Sorry but jailbreaking is FAR easier than rooting. I've rooted my Milestone, Nexus One, Nexus S and Captivate. I'm not an idiot at doing these things but the last 2 took a while to figure out. Lots of Android drivers to install here and there. Not to mention every device's rooting is different. Rooting the Nexus S was manual while the Captivate had a One Click Root app that didn't work simply because I forgot to install 1 last driver. I went to device manager like 5 times already and I thought I installed everything, but there was 1 last thing I forgot.

And as I said rooting is only 1 step. No one just roots and stops there. Most people unlock the bootloader and install recovery. That's some tough shit as some devices like my Nexus S and Milestone you just download the recovery from forum. The Captivate I had to use Rom Manager which I never use and then it downloaded recovery to some mystery directory. I kept wondering WHY I wasn't in ClockWork yet everytime I rebooted in recovery. Turns out I had to replace the update.zip on my own. Thought Rom Manager would do that automatically.

When I got my iPod Touch 1G, I jailbroke it in no time. Sure I messed up DFU mode, but you just hit restart in PwnageTool and it told me the steps all over again and counted down with me. I ran WinPwn and my ex-gf jailbroke her iPod Touch 2G on her own.

When I got my iPod Touch 4G, it took like 5 seconds with Greenp0ison. When my mom gets her iPad in the next few days I'm confident I'll plug it in and be done in seconds.

When my friend brought her Captivate to me, I had to read up XDA Forums for like 10 minutes covering rooting, ROM guides, how to flash to stock, etc. It's a headache and it's a new process for every goddamn phone.

Seriously, rooting, cydia store, etc is all the most easiest thing. It's a unifying concept. The fact that the Installous will update your pirated apps for you tells you how far the iOS developers have gone. There's nothing that even comes close for Android.

And seriously, only some Cydia apps are paid.

You miss the point here. You don't have to root android to customize it. Also once Android is rooted youre done... Upgrade at will. And all the root apps are on the same market as everything else. And most are free.

I can mod an iPhone without editing any files, Winterboard & Dreamboard are FAR more powerful than anything on the Android. And to really do anything worth it you gotta buy something like LLP or another launcher. The free ones suck. The reality is the iPhone's actually easier to mod. I clicked 1 box to get rid of app labels on my iPhone. The only way I could accomplish this on my Android was to use Anycut, and I had to create a new icon for every app I had. It took me about 20 minutes to do this, I asked on XDA if there was an easier way but they suggested a method using a shell as a SU. Which I'm guessing you wouldn't consider "easy" I stick 100% behind what I said, both have their pluses and minuses, but none of the 3 points you brought up make a good argument for it not being easy.

The only reality here is which do you perfer, because the fact you can make an iPhone look just like a WM7 or android phone in a matter of 30 seconds kind of disproves your "isn't easy" theory. And I'f for example I'm running Warm Z TwopointTwo or any rom based off Android 2.2 I can't upgrade my phone to 2.3. So I guess point 3 is a strike for both OS's no?

The clock on the notification bar is too small to read at a glance. Plus, the widget is words, which fits better with my battery widget (which is also too small to read in the notification bar, at a glance.

I didn't say Android itself, I said "anything on Android" What program for Android can give me the level of control either apps I mentioned do? There's nothing even close to Dreamboard. XDA people would probably try to say that Desktop Visualizer's as good, or even better, but it's not. If you know how to code, sure the sky's the limit but that's going to make up a whole fraction of a present of the Android user base. And seeing how Dreamboard adds widget support to iOS, if you know how to code the advantage of Android's probably not as great as most would think. Maybe it's just me but I don't consider the ability to add widgets to an OS that doesn't have them as "a freakin theme engine" but hay that's just me. Also this thread's about changing the look not the OS itself. My reply was referring to the modding/skinning ability, and imho both are pretty much even there. But what do I know? I'm just a guy who's spent a good deal of his free time modding both.
