What does Write Combine mean in WinXP troubleshotting?

I have noticed that there is an option to turn on or off the write combine thing under the troubleshoting tab and below the performance slider, it is on for all the cards. What does that exactly do?

Write combining is a complex topic but what it does essentially boils down to increasing graphics performance by supporting burstable transactions.

Leave the setting alone unless you're having problems, and even then it's very likely that'll only help you if you have a very old video card.
