i have dsl. i have dialup as backup.

today, dsl went down for a few min. (light on dsl modem/router was blinking.) so i went to dialup.

The light on the dsl modem stopped blinking, but i'm still at dialup speeds. WHY?

And How do i get WinXP to auto switch over to dsl when it sees that it's available?

I do believe this has to do with Network Device Priority. The priority can be checked by going to the properties of your "My Network Places" clicking on "Advanced" from the file menu and chosing "Advanced Settings."

The connection on top is the first priority and down from there is next ect.

ugg... dialup tcpip doesnt have the 'metric' option under 'Advanced'

Do you know what the default metric is for dialup? (i'll just set it higher than my dsl.)

if not, Any other suggestions?
