What does win protection error it restart my comp. How to to fix it?

from what i under stand from messing with win9x was that sometimes windows would load the driver more than once and this corrupted the bootup and hence rebooted the pc.
boot up in safe mode and then go and check the device manager and look for any devices loaded more than once , if you do find any then remove them and then reboot and hope fully should boot up fine.
