What does "Virtualization: Enabled" mean in the Windows 8 Task Manager?

Does it mean that VT-x is turned on? Or does it mean that Hyper-V is currently active and running? Or is it something else altogether?

That sounds like it's a reference to UAC Virtualization, which is the compatibility routine UAC uses for old programs that try to write to Program Files and other restricted locations.

Actually it does relate to the VT-x technologies is turned on.

On my board if I disable Intel Virtualization,Technologies, and VT-d in the bios this shows up as disabled

Once I enable them again it shows up as enabled. So it looks like it might indicate that your hardware virtualization is enabled.

The uac virtualization should happen no matter what as that is an os level item and is not dependent on the hardware support

Thanks. The reason I ask is because the BIOS/UEFI on this laptop has no "Advanced Mode" settings, so there's no way to toggle (or even check) VT status in the BIOS. I'm glad the OEM was smart enough to turn it on by default.
