Actually, from a technical aspect, the Beta Tape system was a better system. Better resolution and clarity. Marketing is what killed the Beta-max player.

Sure is, beta is what we did all the work with at the cable tv station. Except we called it 3/4" So really I do wish beta had taken over

VHS = Very heavily sucky. Man I hate VHS, nothing like bringing home a movie from blockbuster only to have to stop and play every 2 minutes because the tape is so fuxxed. Man am I thankful for DVD and region free firmware

Beat me to it.

Sony had both, Government told them they had to release one. They realse VHS because it was the inferior system. Beta Dies.

3/4" is different than Beta.

3/4" is just a higher quality VHS. The number is related to the size of the tape itself. VHS is 1/2"

BetaCam and BetaMax are higher in quality than VHS and 3/4", though.

Yeah....Beta Max is what CNN uses for most of their video clips.........they edit the clips on Mac Power PCs and then copy them to Beta........I never would have guessed they'd have even gone to tape. (my sister-in-law is an editor for them) Beta is pretty awesome.

They use BetaCams, I'm sure of it. BetaMax is the consumer version of it. That PowerPC is called an AVID.
